Well, Friends, I don't know what it's like where you live but in Boise it's a winter wonderland! White & beautiful! I love this time of year! There are many people who think of winter as the dead season. But if you really look around you'll see there is as much beauty in this season as the others. You know the old saying it's darkest before the dawn? Well that's what I see in winter. A season of hope, of new things to come (spring). I see beauty in the shape of the trees where the leaves no longer obscure their view. And the mountains are purest white with only a trace of greenery to be seen. The icicles gleam as they shine in the noonday sun and frosts' the evening glow. The stars shine brighter and the moon seems closer as the trees lay dormant in wait for springtime's life giving flow. Does that sound like the seasons of your life? If not then you're not seeing it through God's eyes. Sometimes we go through dark times and wonder why. Well, I believe that we also go through seasons of change where God uses those times to show us who He truly is. For it's in those darkest times that we need Him most. If we focus on the beauty in those trials, yes, beauty, then we'll find that restoration comes in the darkest hours. As we lay dormant like the trees (a time of rejuvenation) and rely on God we'll find that the storms pass much quicker and we become much stronger in our faith and our walk with Christ. Look back on your life and see where God has brought you from and where you are today. If you're going through a winter season in your life, find the beauty in that season and praise God through it all. No valley is too deep and no mountain too high that He can't restore your soul. So be still and know that He is God.
Well, this had nothing to do with today's sermon at church so I can't blame my ramblings on the Pastor's inspiring message. But I hope I have encouraged someone today who might be struggling with depression.
Now on to other things! With Christmas behind us and the New Year in front of us I am excited about what's ahead. 2008 is going to be a very busy year for us. First of all there's more remodeling, but the good news is that if all goes well we will be done before summer. Yep! That's a lot of months, especially with just the two of us doing it all. So if you see us limping it's not old age, just good hard work that will pay off for our son's inheritance.
After remodeling we'll deserve a, much needed, rest. So in May I plan on being in the studio to record another CD. I know that won't be much of a rest but at least I can sit down between takes. I'm really excited about the songs that will be used on this project! In fact there are so many great choices that it will be hard to narrow it down. So keep me in your prayers as I pray about which ones to use and for the finances to come into place and for my voice to be at it's best. I've already decided on the title, "What A Wonderful Life". It was inspired by the blessings that we are enjoying at this stage of our life that Jack's retirement has given us. One of the songs on this CD says it best. It's called "Life Is Great And Gettin' Better". And it's from my all time favorite group, Jeff & Sheri Easter! This should be a good one! So start saving now and reserve your copy today.
This next month I am putting on a very important Benefit Concert for a family who lost their home in a fire just two weeks before Christmas. Cherie` & Bob Richards, of the Nampa Seventh Day Adventist Church, are also fellow southern gospel singers of the mixed quartet known as "Faith INC". You may have seen them sing at the Gospel Jubilee or most recently at the Holiday Benefit Concert that I hosted for the Boise Rescue Mission. This family has lost everything in the fire, including sound equipment, musical instruments, soundtracks and much more in personal effects that can never be replaced. It's only by the grace of God that they were able to get their elderly mother out before the fire took over. In an effort to help in this devastating time of their lives I hope many of you will attend the concert and invite as many people as you can to be God's hands extended in this time of need. The concert date is set for 6:00 p.m. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd at the NAMPA SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH. I will be singing as well as Faith INC and Nick Hylton from Weiser Christian Church. More details will be posted on my "schedule" page as well as the "special events" page. A poster will be available to download and copy for your help in advertising. Remember to be in prayer for this family as they rebuild their home and their lives.
On a last note, please keep me in your prayers. For the past year or so I have been struggling with a hypo-active Thyroid, which has caused some vocal problems and much weight gain. The doctors are still trying to find the right dosage to get it to the normal level so these symptoms can be corrected. I have no doubt that the Lord is in control and will take care of all my needs. I only ask for prayer because I believe that when two or more pray the Lord will do mighty things as a testimony of his healing powers! I expect great things and give glory to Him for answered prayer!
As you can see, my schedule is pretty bare right now. But I am working on more dates and will post those as soon as they are confirmed. If you would like me to sing at your church or one of your events send me an email or contact me by phone! Don't forget to check the web site often. We are in the process of adding and changing things but it's a slow process when Jack, the webmaster, is busy remodeling! So please be patient!
Well, there's lots more to share about this year's happenings but I'll save those for the next Newsletter. Until then I hope all of you will keep in touch and continue to share your life stories with me! I love hearing from you and hope to see you at a concert real soon!
Love & Blessings,
